Kathleen R. Granzow

Kathleen R. Granzow (nee Roberts), age 97 of The Villages, Florida passed away Friday, December 2, 2022.  She was born on September 1, 1925, in Tilbury, England to the late Harold and Anna Roberts.  She was formerly of Australia and also a former longtime Hobart resident.   Kathleen enjoyed quilting and was a member of the Red Hat Society.   On Christmas day in 1943, in Adelaide, South Australia, she met the love of her life, an American Soldier, who took her to the USO for Christmas Dinner.  They corresponded for 4 years, and then they were married on May 29, 1947.

She is survived by four daughters, Bonnie Dooley of Valparaiso, IN; Jo (Mel) Granzow of The Villages, FL; Deborah (David) Stutler of Hobart, IN; Donna (John) Ray of Valparaiso, IN; 12 grandchildren, Jan, Kelly, Tony, Donnie, Jayme, Jackie, Brandie, Amanda, Misti, John Jr., Jason, and Jessica, 19 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Granzow, three brothers, Reginald, Robert, and Ronald Roberts, granddaughter, Jennifer Ray, and one son-in-law, Vern Dooley.

In lieu of flowers, Kathleen has requested donations to go to a Hospice Center of the donor's choice.

Visitation for Kathleen will be held on Friday, December 16, 2022, from Noon to 4:30 pm at Rees Funeral Home 600 W. Old Ridge Road, Hobart, Indiana 46342. A funeral service will follow immediately at 4:30 p.m. with Pastor Charles Strietelmeier, officiating. Cremation to follow.
