KATHRYN L. MIRIA, age 91, of Portage, passed away Sunday, September 25, 2011 at Golden Living Center in Valparaiso. Kathryn was a longtime Northwest Indiana resident and had been a waitress at the Holiday Inn in Merrillville. She was a former member of the Bonner Senior Center in Portage. Kathryn enjoyed crossword puzzles, making beaded bracelets and bingo.
Kathryn is survived by her daughters, Phyllis Miria of Valparaiso and Lynn Friedman of California, sister, Pauline Katnich of California, 4 grandchildren: Michael Arena of Lowell, IN, Tammy (Greg) Barger of Chesterton, Josie (Pete) Gregar, also of Chesterton and Brian Friedman of CA, 7 great grandchildren: Jessica & Bryce Barger; Peter, Andrew & Nicholas Gregar; Brandon & Brady Arena.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at 12:00 noon at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Avenue, Portage. Burial will follow at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville.
