KATHRYN T. NIEMI, age 92, of Portage, passed away Saturday, June 15, 2013 at Sterling House in Portage. Kathryn had been a Portage resident since 1998 and was a former longtime Chicago/Calumet City resident. She was a member of Nativity of Our Savior Catholic Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Carol (Chester "Butch") Ochwat of Portage, granddaughter, Jill Clasen (fiancé, Chad Howell) of Lake Station, 2 great grandchildren, Kenneth and Kaitlynn Clasen. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur Niemi and granddaughters, Dawn and Jennifer Ochwat.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at 10:00 am at Nativity of Our Savior Catholic Church, 2949 Willowcreek Rd. Portage; with Rev. Andrew J. Corona celebrating the Mass. Burial will follow at Oakland Memory Lanes in Dolton, Illinois at 12:00 noon.
