Kathy Cezar

KATHY CEZAR, age 54, of Gary, passed away Thursday, June 1, 2017. She was born on May 10, 1963 in Chicago, IL. Kathy will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend.

Kathy was preceded in death by her husband, Pernell Cezar, Sr.; father, Robert Brimmer; brother, Welton Smith; and 2 sisters, Eddie Mae Ratliff and Bobbie Dean Wilson.

She is survived by her mother, Katie Smith of Gary; 2 children, Olivia (fiancé, Jonathan) Cezar, Vidalia, LA and Pernell (Jessica) Cezar, Jr., Des Moines, IA; 3 grandchildren, Christopher and Christian Johnson, Ava Cezar, and future grandson on the way; 3 brothers, Tommy (Mary) Smith, Sr., Maywood, IL, Melvin (Ramona) Smith, Sr., Chicago, IL, Douglas Smith, Chicago, IL; 3 sisters, Patricia Roberts, Maywood, IL, Essie (Herman) Carter of Triangle, VA, Belinda Tate, Indianapolis, IN; father and mother-in-law, Andrew and Olivia Cezar of Oberlin, LA; 3 brothers-in-law and 2 sisters-in-law; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the family would be appreciated.

A funeral service for Kathy will be Saturday, June 10, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 W. Old Ridge Rd., Hobart. Burial will follow.
