Kathyrn "Katie" Frances Baum (nee DeFrance), age 75, of Hobart, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, February 5, 2020. She was born in Gary, Indiana on February 13, 1944 to the late Kenneth and Victoria (nee Zitz) DeFrance.  Katie had the sweetest spirit and was always willing to help anyone in need.  She loved with her whole heart and asked nothing in return.  She was happiest when surrounded by loved ones.  She was a creative seamstress and had a playful sense of humor. Katie was so cherished and loved in life and will be, always.  Katie retired from the School City of Hobart and also worked at Burger King and Walgreens.

Katie is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Bernard "Bernie" Baum; sons, Jim Baum, Steve (Kim) Baum; daughters, Jerri Baum, Becky (Chris) Trezak;  grandchildren, Brian (Michelle) Baum, Kathryn Baum, Alison Trezak, Gus Trezak, Marquise Pryor, Eric (Ashley) Miskuf; great grandchildren, Brian Baum Jr., Braiden Baum, Ryan Miskuf; sisters, Linda (Gary) Jordan, Peggy (Mike) Mason; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her son, Charlie Baum and her parents.

Cremation has been entrusted to Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel.
