Keith D. Carr, age 71, of Portage and formerly of Lake Station passed away Saturday March 21, 2015 at Porter Regional Hospital in Valparaiso. Keith was born June 18, 1943 to the late William and Betty (Yanko) Carr in Gary, Indiana. Keith was a Steel Worker that retired from US Steel with 39 years of service. Keith was a member of the Sons of the American Legion at Post #260 in Portage.

Keith is survived by five children Michael (Denise) Carr of Valparaiso, Amanda (Jim) Fraley of Valparaiso, Tracey West of Michigan City, Rachelle (Jason) Riley of Portage and Michelle (Eric) Blanchard of Salem, MA; three grandchildren; two brothers Jerry Shuttz of Portage and Robert Carr of New Carlisle; one sister Patricia Bryant of Portage and several nieces and nephews.

Keith was preceded in death by his loving wife Joyce; his father William; his mother and stepfather Betty and Clayton "Tiny" Shuttz; two brothers Joseph and William Carr and one sister Diane Walters.

Visitation will be from 2-6 pm Thursday March 26, 2015 at the Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel 5341 Central Avenue Portage, Indiana 46368. Cremation will follow. Memorial gifts are preferred to the American Red Cross in lieu of flowers.
