Keith Cates, of Hobart, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, May 24, 2016. Keith was born on September 12, 1948 to the late Shelby and Virginia (nee Clodfetter) Cates. He was a Union Steelworker, Local 20, for 36 years. He was very creative and could build anything from the ground up. He had a love for hunting, fishing, biking, camping, and horseback riding. Keith will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend.
Keith is survived by his wife, Evelyn Cates, of 31 years; son, Steve K. (Gina Trimble) Cates; daughters, Terri (John) Gianopolos, Tracy (Jay) Crandall, Erica (Jerry) Wojihoski, Melissa Hardesty; grandchildren, Aubrey, Savien, Cadance, Sylas, TJ, Blake, Gary, Jake, Rachael, Ashley, Jessica, Jerry, Ethan, Maxwell, Owen Keith; great grandchildren, Uzziah, Sammy; brothers, Gary (Marilyn) Cates, Daryl Cates, Mike (Lisa) Cates; sister, Donna (Norman) Renehan; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Lester Cates; son, Bobby Hardesty.
A funeral service, with Military Honors, for Keith will take place Saturday May 28, 2016 at 5:30 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 West Old Ridge Rd. Hobart, IN 46342 with Rev. Dominic V.
