Kelly John Donald

Age 63, of Portage passed away on December 4, 2025, at his home in Portage. Kelly was born on November 10, 1962, in Gary. Indiana. Kelly worked for many years as a Frozen Food Manager at Strack & Van Til, where he was known for his strong work ethic. A man of many passions, Kelly found joy in bonsai trees, riding and admiring Harley-Davidsons, exploring antiques and listening to good music. He was a lifelong collector with a deep appreciation for history, gathering treasures form the early 1800s through 1990s. Stone, fossils, Native American artifacts, dolls-Kelly collected them all with enthusiasm and intention. His home became a museum of stories, memories, and pieces of the past, each item reflecting his unique spirit and inquisitive nature. Kelly will be remembered for his love for things that made life interesting, his eye for beauty and history, and the remarkable collection he built over a lifetime.  He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Kelly is survived by his son, Randy Donald; daughter, Nicole (Alex Quijano) Donald; step-daughter, Lindsay (Scott) Bernal; three grandchildren, Kaden, Alessia and Leilani; his significant other, Kelly Dyson; step grandchildren, Kameron and Bobby; brother, Scott Donald, sister, Christine Donald; nephew, Matt Peksenak and many other loving family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, John P. Donald; and his partner of 35 yrs. Denise Bernal.
