Kelly J. Kollar (nee Krupa), age 56, of Hobart, formerly of Lake Station and Portage, passed away on Sunday, December 12, 2021.

Kelly was born on September 29, 1965 in Gary, IN to the late Jack and Betty (nee Szpakowski) Krupa.  She was a graduate of Portage High School, Class of 1983.  Kelly worked most recently for Wideco Transmission as a manager.  She also has worked for Bronko's Restaurant in Portage for six years then as a secretary for Waste Management for seven years. Kelly married David Kollar and spent over 13 years together.

Kelly was an amazing cook and baker, making delicious zucchini bread, Christmas cookies, and soups.  She loved to feed the animals that visited her home and took care of her dear pets: Mojo, Princess, Punkies, and Caramel.  Kelly and David liked to spend their time fishing together but enjoyed time indoors watching cooking shows.  Kelly was an amazing and doting aunt to her nephew, Kyle.  She was a loving wife, sister, aunt, and dear friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Kelly is survived by her husband: David; sister: Karen (Tom Monette) Carlson; nephew: Kyle (Alexis Larson) Carlson; close family friend: Maysha Carlson; and many dear friends.

Kelly is preceded in death by her parents: Jack and Betty, and her Nana: Jean Szpakowski.

A Celebration of Kelly's Life will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2022 from 3:30pm-5:30pm at the Paragon Restaurant, 1701 E. 37th Avenue, Hobart, IN.  Arrangements and cremation are entrusted to Rees Funeral Home, Brady Chapel.
