KENDALL ALLAN SPENCER, age 74, of Portage, passed away Friday, April 26, 2013 at the VNA Hospice Center in Valparaiso. Kendall was a lifelong Northwest Indiana resident and retired carpenter with Dennis & Sons. He was a US Navy veteran and member of Portage American Legion Post #260. Kendall was a member of the carpenters union and enjoyed bowling.
He is survived by his wife, Inez, 5 sons: John (Gloria) Spencer of Lake Eliza, William Spencer of the Philippines, Jay Spencer of Florida, Tony (Ruth) Spencer of Colorado and Richard (Rhonda) Spencer of Portage; step-daughters Stephanie (Dan) Flynn of Westville and Susan (Matthew) Birdsey of Portage; grandson, Steven Parrott of Portage and 19 other grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren; 2 brothers: Paul (Sharon) Spencer of New Jersey and Thomas Spencer of Lowell, sister, Sandy Spencer of Portage and nieces and nephews.
Per his request there was no visitation or viewing. There will be a graveside memorial service Thursday, May 2, 2013 at 11:00 am at Calvary Cemetery, 2701 Willowdale Rd., Portage, with Chaplain Craig Forwalter officiating.
