IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Kenneth
David
February 9, 1932 – November 29, 2020
KENNETH DAVID, age 88, of Hobart, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, November 29, 2020. He was a lifelong Northwest Indiana resident and a member of New Life Community Church in Hobart. He was born in Gary, Indiana on February 9, 1932 to the late George and Suria (Isaac) David. His parents came to the United States from Persia. He was so proud to share in his Assyrian heritage with the amazing dishes that he learned to cook from his mother. He received great joy and spread much love by preparing these dishes for his family near and far. During his incredibly full life, he excelled as a bricklayer, carpenter, diesel mechanic, service manager, musician and jack-of-all-trades. He retired from Truck City of Gary at the age of 65, only to return to working part-time for many years. He was always ready, and able, to fix whatever needed fixing, building or improving. He was well known and loved as being a vivid storyteller and organist who brought much joy through his humor, stories and music. When he was not in the house cooking or playing his organ, you could find him in his workspace listening to Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Tony Bennett and the like. Kenneth built his home in 1972 with very little outside help; then gutted and rebuilt the entire interior in 2012, at the ripe young age of 80. He will be remembered for his love of family and music, and as a man with a very strong work ethic, a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, favorite uncle, and friend to everyone.
Kenneth is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Arlene; children, Ken (Jaye) David, Laura (Frank Carbone) David, Mary Beth (Andy) Gregory, Matthew (Vicki) Jancosek, Jaime Jancosek (Roger Nassar), Jason (Jennifer) Jancosek; grandchildren Ryan, Eric, Nicole, Rachel, Janis, Andrew, Erik, Brian, Matthew, Nicholas, Christopher, Alex and Layla ; twelve great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Kathie Larson and Kathy Elliott; numerous nieces and nephews and a never-ending amount of loving family and dear friends; and his beloved dogs, Rubi and Patches.
He has been preceded in death by his first wife and childhood sweetheart, Lennie David (nee Harris); son, John Charles David; brothers, Arthur, Walter, Richard, Leonard, and Ronald David; and sister, Janice Rizzo.
Cremation arrangements entrusted to Rees Funeral Homes, Hobart Chapel. A celebration of life service will take place in the late spring or early summer when it is safer to gather.
