Kenneth E. McGill, age 81, of Hobart, passed away suddenly Thursday, April 4, 2013 at home. Kenneth had been a Hobart resident for 16 years and was formerly of Illinois. He was retired from RexNord Manufacturing and was a member of First United Methodist Church of Hobart. Ken was an avid golfer, die-hard Cubs fan and Bingo volunteer at St. Mary Medical Center.
Ken is survived by his loving wife, Lois Zander-McGill, 2 sons, Jeffrey (JoAnn) McGill of East Hazel Crest, IL, Mark (late Casey) McGill of Palos Heights, IL, daughter, Lynne Stasiak of East Hazel Crest, IL, step-children: Douglas (Brenda) Zander of Valparaiso, Karin (Joseph) Doyle of Chesterton and Guy (Victoria) Zander of Thornton, IL, grandchildren: Justin and Andrew McGill; Brandon Stasiak; Cliff & Jenna Zander and Dawn (Peter) Kujawa; Mike Doyle and Jessica (Steve) Schrenk, 5 great grandchildren, sister, Charlotte (David) Ellison of Ventura, CA and nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sharon (Wolf) McGill and brothers, Richard and William McGill. In lieu of flowers contributions to Leukemia Society of American would be appreciated.
Funeral services will be held Monday, April 8, 2013 at 11:00 am at Rees Funeral Home, 600 W. Old Ridge Rd., Hobart, with Rev. Jonathan Gosser officiating. Burial will follow on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at 11:00 at Iroquois Memorial Park in Watseka, Illinois.
