Kevin J. McClaskey, age 65, of Portage, IN, passed away on Friday, February 3, 2023. Kevin was born on December 2, 1957 in Gary, IN to the late James McClaskey and Donna Sue (nee Williams) Hill.  He was a graduate of River Forest High School, Class of 1976.  Kevin worked as a Steelworker with Inland Steel until his retirement in 2009.

Kevin was a member of the Local 1010 US Steel Workers Union.  He loved to go to sporting events and supported the Chicago White Sox, Blackhawks, Bears, Bulls, Notre Dame, and IU Basketball.   He also enjoyed 70s Classic Rock and Classic movies.  Kevin was a loving father, brother, uncle, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Kevin is survived by his son: Travis McClaskey; significant other: Patty Danaher; siblings: Brian McClaskey, Kyle Wilkes, Dan Wilkes, Penny (Jim) Pysh, Leann (Steve) Elliot, Lora Laughlin, and April (Mike) Shouse; and many nieces and nephews.

Kevin is preceded in death by his parents: James and Donna Sue; and brother: Billy Wilkes.

Family and friends may gather at Rees Funeral Home (600 W. Old Ridge Rd., Hobart) on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 from 5:00-7:00 P.M.  A memorial service will begin at 7:00 P.M. with Pastor Mitch Tabla officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Kevin's name may be made to St. Jude Children's Research.
