Larry Joe Cafin, age 76, of Lake Station, passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2020 at Golden Living Center in Portage. He was born in Flatrock, Illinois on May 24, 1943 to the late Rollie and Grace (nee Gaddis) Cafin. He previously worked for the Lake Station Fire Department and Ambulance service, the Lake Station Civil Defense and was a hearse driver for Olson and Frum Funeral Home. Larry retired after 34 yrs. from Bethlehem Steel and was a self-employed Truck Driver. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend.
Larry is survived by wife, Mary (nee Bayne) Cafin; son, Jerry Cafin; daughter, Becky Cafin, four grandchildren, Samantha (Josh) Enquist, Sunserea (Brandon) Conner, Sandra (David) Ard and Larry L. Cafin; four great-grandchildren, September, Cayleb, Kacelynn and Arora and numerous other loving family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his two granddaughters, Mary Lynn Cafin and Madison Lynn Marion, his parents: six brothers, Cal, Roy, Albert, Bob, Dean and Byrl Cafin, and four sisters, Mary Johns, Annabelle Paton, Agnes Tincher and Mae Robbins.
A visitation will be held Saturday, May 9,2020 from 12-4 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave. Cremation will follow. A funeral service will be held at 4 pm with Pastor David Nykamp officiating. Friends and family may pay their respects with a limit of no more than 25 people at a time.
