Larry A. Pruitt

Larry A. Pruitt, age 76, of Portage passed away Sunday October 8, 2023, at the VNA Hospice Center in Valparaiso. Larry was born January 4, 1947, in Birmingham, Alabama to the late Eugene and Martha (Herrin) Pruitt. He was a steelworker that retired from Inland Steel Company in 2009 with over thirty years of service. He was veteran of the US Army who received a purple heart while serving during the Vietnam Era.

Larry is survived by his wife Darlene Pruitt of Portage; Four children Shawn Pruitt, Amy Pruitt. Amanda Pruitt, and Larry Pruitt, Jr.; three stepchildren, Jeremy Satriano, Jessica (Brian Ream) Satriano, and Samantha Satriano; and many other dear friends and relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Eugene Pruitt, Jr., and Roland Baker.

Visitation for Larry will be from 4-8 pm Sunday October 15, 2023, at the Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel 5341 Central Avenue Portage, Indiana 46368. Funeral services will be Monday October 16, 2023, at 11:00 am at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Illinois at 1:30 pm Monday.
