Obituary

Lauren Rose Thompson (nee MacKenzie), 24, of Valparaiso, a beautiful young soul, died in a car accident on November 8, 2022. Lauren was born on December 3, 1997 to her parents, Scott Mackenzie and Dawn Kissel, in Munster, Indiana. On July 9, 2022, Lauren married her high school sweetheart, best friend, and love of her life, Tyler Thompson. Lauren loved her family, fur babies, and friends. She spent her time doing the things she loved, like thrifting with her sister and best friend, Jo, reading, watching movies, and playing volleyball on Wednesday nights with her friends. Above all else, she loved spending time with her husband and Goldendoodles, Rusty and Luka. Lauren was a member of Valparaiso Baptist Church, an 8th grade teacher at Chesterton Middle School, and also spent time as a cheerleading and volleyball coach at both River Forest and Chesterton Middle Schools. Lauren's calling became clear at a young age, and her passion for reading and helping others led her to pursue her dream job as a teacher, where her love for her students was apparent in her daily work. She graduated from River Forest High School in 2016 and received a degree in education from Purdue University Northwest in 2020. Lauren will be missed dearly by all. She is survived by her husband, Tyler Thompson; mother, Dawn (Steven) Kissel; father, Scott (Kimberly Lane) MacKenzie; four sisters, Josephine Kissel, Emma Lane, Amelia Kissel, and Leticia Marquez; brother, Marc Lane; father and mother-in-law, Rodney and Paula Thompson; sister-in-law, Amber Thompson; brother-in-law, Zachary (Kaleigh Karageorge) Thompson; her loving grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins; Goldendoodles, Rusty and Luka; and so many other
loving family members and dear friends. A visitation for Lauren will be held Sunday, November 13, 2022, from 2:00-8:00 pm at Rees
