Lauro Cerda, Jr.

Lauro Cerda, Jr., age 85, of Hobart, passed away July 13, 2022.  He was born on July 18, 1936 in Gary, Indiana. Lauro proudly served his country in the US Army National Guard.  He worked for many years as a crane operator at US Steel until his retirement. Lauro had faithfully attended mass at St. Mark Catholic Church. He had previously been an avid bowler and golfer, and enjoyed many golfing trips to South Carolina and Mississippi.

Lauro is survived by his 3 sons, Andrew Cerda, Joseph (Sheila) Cerda, and Daniel (Elaine) Cerda; 6 grandchildren, Christopher, Joseph, Socorro, Arik, Aimee, and Clarice; 3 great grandchildren, Hailee, Aubrey and Lincoln; 2 brothers, Robert and Joseph; 2 sisters, Susan and Sally; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lauro and Socorro Cerda; and brother, Manuel Cerda.
