Lawrence C. Auksel, Sr., age 67, of Portage passed away Tuesday April 8, 2014 at the Porter Hospital, Portage Campus.  He was born December 12, 1946 in East Chicago, Indiana to the late Pete and Ethel (Hoyne) Auksel, Sr.  Lawrence was a pipe fitter retiring from Inland Steel.  He was an US Army Veteran proudly serving his country in Vietnam.  Larry enjoyed fishing, gardening , cooking and using his short wave radio.

He is survived by his two sons Larry (Lori) Auksel of Portage and Billy (Athena) Auksel of Porter;  his two brothers Pete (Carol) Auksel, Jr. of Highland and Jim (Jayne) Auksel of Russiaville; his four grandchildren Josephine, Sydney, Townes and Briar; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Ervin Auksel.

Private memorial services will be conducted at a later date.  Donations may be made to the veteran support charity of the doner's choice.
