Lawrence (Larry) L. Thorn a life time resident of Portage, Indiana passed away on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at the age of 81yrs. He graduated from Portage High School class of 1953, attended Arkansas College to play Football and proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp and was a member of American Legion Post 260. On March 4, 1961 Lawrence married the love of his life Donna Hecht in Lansing, Illinois. He retired from Circle R Electric after 33 yrs. of service. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.
He is survived by his wife of 55 yrs., Donna (nee Hecht); also surviving are three children, Jackie Thorn of Nashville, Tennessee, Roger (Jill) of Portage and Mark (Nikki) of Las Vegas, Nevada; Four grandchildren, Christopher, Nick, Katie and Karlie; four brothers, Les (Sharon), Dale, Bruce (Gail) and Dan (Pam).
Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Myrtle Thorn; infant daughter, Sandra Jean; brother, Jack Thorn.
Funeral services for Lawrence will be held on Monday, May 9, 2016 at 10:00 am at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave, Portage, Indiana 46368. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Portage.
