Age 75, a lifetime resident of Indiana, passed away on Monday, January 09, 2012. Lela was born on December 24, 1936 in Terre Haute, Indiana the daughter of Clifford and Nettie Florye. Lela was married to Herman Darkis on August 13,1953 in Vincennes, Indiana. She enjoyed Country music, shopping, crocheting and animals. Lela is survived by her loving family; husband, Herman Darkis, four children: Danny (Jeanette) Darkis, Lee Darkis, Herma (Damian) Franchville all of Lake Station and Tammy (Leonard) Douglas of Hobart, 2 sisters; Lena Malcom of Hobart and Betty Helt of Terre Haute, 7 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, many other loving family members and friends and her furry companions dogs- Ruby and Dusty

She is preceded in death by her parents and granddaughter Lynn Franchville.

A visitation for Lela will be held from 11:00am-2:30pm on Thursday, January 12,2012 at Rees Funeral Home – Hobart Chapel, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm, Thursday, January 12,2012 also at Rees Funeral Home with Summit Sen officiating. Burial at Evergreen Memorial Park, Hobart.
