Leon Brant, age 84, of Lake Station passed away Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at the Golden Living Center in Portage.  He was born on September 14, 1936 to the late Elmer and Loraine (nee Cox) Brant.  He retired from U.S. Steel, where he worked as a motor tender in the energy department. He was an avid Sox fan and enjoyed; fishing, hunting, gardening, reading, and cooking.  He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend.

Leon is survived by his wife of 64 yrs., Collette (nee Kowal) Brant; son, Mark (Lori) Brant; daughter, Patricia (Jerry) Taylor; sister, Sharon (Bill) Fekete; six grandchildren, Jason (Kristi) Brant, Kristopher (Heather) Brant, David (Heather) Brant, Jeremey (Kristin) Taylor, Alyson (James) Kulchar, and Michael Vaughan; ten great-grandchildren and other loving family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his son, Gregory Brant; granddaughter, Morgan Brant; his parents; and three brothers, Donald, Jerry, and William "Bob" Brant.

Per Leon's request his services will be held privately at Rees Funeral Home 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart, Indiana. Cremation was entrusted to Rees Funeral Home and Cremation Services. (219)-942-2109
