Leonor Laviena, a 73-year-old resident of Portage, passed away Saturday, August 24, 2024. She was born in East Chicago, Indiana on July 11, 1951, to the late Perdro and Ada (nee Ramos) Maldonado. On November 22, 1969, she married the love of her life Nelson Laviena Sr., and they spent 42 loving years together until his passing in 2011. Leonor found joy in dancing and playing games such as dominoes, Uno and bingo, and had recently discovered the game Bunko, which highlighted her competitive side. With a passion for food, she was also known for her vivacious and confident personality. She was a dedicated member of Nativity of Our Savior Church in Portage.

Leonor is survived by her four sons, Nelson (Valerie) Laviena Jr., Daniel Laviena. Michael Laviena and Anthony (Sasha) Laviena; six grandchildren, Sabrina Laviena, Briana Laviena, Marc Biggs, Natalie Laviena, Anderson Laviena and Sophia Laviena; brother, Pedro (Janet) Maldonado; two sisters, Rosemary (Ivan) Quinones and Ada (Cokie) Quinones; and other loving family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Nelson Laviena Sr; her father, Perdro Maldonado, mother, Ada (nee Ramos) Maldonado and sister, Lydia Maldonado.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am at Nativity of Our Savior, 2949 Willowcreek Road, Portage, Indiana 46368 on Thursday, August 29, 2024. The burial will be at Calvary Cemetery Portage, Indiana. Visitation will also be on Thursday, August 29, 2024, from 10:00 am until the time of the service.
