LESLIE R. SHIREY, age 99, of Syracuse, Indiana, passed away Sunday, December 18, 2022.  He was born on January 2, 1923 in Gary, Indiana to the late Dwight and May Shirey. He was a proud WWII US Navy Veteran.  Leslie worked as a watchmaker for 35 years at Comay's in Gary, Indiana, Bulova Watch Company in Brookfield, Illinois and for 29 years at Sorg Jewelers in Goshen, Indiana.  He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, great-great grandfather, brother and friend.

He is survived by his son, Gordon (Janet) Shirey, three daughters, Barbara Workman, Deborah (the late Tom Luedtke), Pamela (James) Williams, eleven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy in October of 2022; his daughter, Susan (Robert) Thornberry; 3 brothers, Ernest, Austin and Russell Shirey; 3 sisters, Pearl Rose, Helen Peterson and Viola Davis.

There will be a memorial visitation for Leslie on Friday, January 6, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:30 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 W.
