Husek, Lillian (87) passed from this life on May 8th, 2016. She was born December 15th, 1928 to Gizella and Frank Pojani in Gary, Indiana. Lillian graduated from Gary Tolleston High School in 1946. On May 6, 1950, she married James Husek, and they built their life and family together in Hobart, Indiana. For many years, Lillian worked as the Attendance Secretary at the Hobart Junior High School. In addition, Lillian was involved in numerous community organizations throughout her life; including: The Hobart PTA, The Hobart Pool Association, Secretary/Treasurer of the Hobart Football Booster's Club, Hobart Little League, Hobart Pop Warner Football, and was a volunteer at the St. Mary's Medical Center for over forty-five years. In addition to her work throughout her community, Lillian was a devoted wife and mother, an adoring grandmother, and a very proud great grandmother. Many of her happiest memories were with her family gathered around her. Whether watching her grandchildren play in her backyard, or playing marbles at her kitchen table, she was always happiest when she was surrounded by her loving family.
Lillian is survived by her sons; James, David, and Michael Husek; grandchildren Lyndsey (Husek) Schmid, James C. Husek, David F. Husek, Joseph Husek, Stephanie Husek, Michael Husek, and Matthew Husek; and great grandson, Everett Schmid. She is preceded by her husband James Husek, sister Irene Mureiko, and grandson Steven Husek.

Funeral services are Thursday, May 12, 2016 at 9 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart with Rev. Frederic Lams officiating. Burial will follow at Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville. Friends and family may call on Wednesday, May 11th, from 2-8 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel.
