Linda Lee Gary, a beloved mother of the Hobart community, passed away peacefully in her sleep December 1, 2024, at the age of 76. Born on September 14, 1948, in Hammond, Indiana to Ferdinand and Mary Lea Giotte, Linda was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She was the youngest in her family and was a woman with a great sense of style, compassion and love. Linda was a competitive game player, often beating her family at Yahtzee and Gin Rummy.

Linda is preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years, William Dwight Gary, her brother David Giotte, and her sister, Nancy Cox.

She is survived by her children: Michelle Cox (Charles, Patrick, Mallory), Marsha Shaffar (Jeff, Nicole, Grant, Jerica), Michelle Simon (Hector, Andrea, Conrad, Hector III, Tommy), "Ricky" Gary (Anthony, Alex), Lisa Merkel (Rick, Christian, Stephanie), Tracy Anderson (Terese, Tommy) and Catherine Palmer (Duane, Camryn, Drew) and also 33 great-grandchildren. Linda also had many loving cousins, nephews, nieces, and extended family members and friends.

A celebration of life is scheduled at Rees Funeral Home Hobart Chapel 600 W. Old Ridge Road Hobart, Indiana on Saturday, 12/7. Visitation will be from 1-3pm with a service at 3pm. Linda will be interred at Pine Grove Cemetery in South Carrollton, Muhlenberg County, Kentucky on Monday, 12/9 at 1pm, next to her loving husband.
