Linda K. Gavelek, age 77, of Hobart, Indiana, passed away Saturday, August 15, 2020 at home, surrounded by her loving family.  She was born on October 8, 1942 in Gary, Indiana to the late Elmer and Viola Clingan.

On April 2, 1960, Linda married the love of her life John J. Gavelek in Hobart, Indiana.  She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.

Linda enjoyed making her home warm and inviting, welcome to all.  She tended a beautiful rock garden and could be found curled up with a book.  She enjoyed all genres of music and chatting or sharing a cup of coffee with family and friends on the front porch swing.  Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren will always remember her saying: "I love you more, because I'm older".

She is survived by her daughters, Julie L. Clark and Lisa A. Mayer both of Hobart, son, Jon J. Gavelek of Hobart; grandchildren, David (Kelly) Clark, Rachel Walker and Lindsay Mayer; eight great-grandchildren, Makaylah, Ty, Wyatt, Johnnie, Emilie, Dylan, Claire and Jake; sister, Connie (Frank) Davies of Brea California, brother, Bill (Bette) Clingan of Mount Olive, North Carolina; sister-in-law, Paula (Bill) Siminski of Portage, Indiana; numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family members.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband John J. Gavelek and son David S. Gavelek.
