LINDA LOU LARGENT, age 67, of Valparaiso, died peacefully while surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, March 15  , 2014.  She was a longtime Lansing and Lynwood, IL resident and had recently moved to Valparaiso.  Linda had worked as a deli manager at Walt's Grocery and as a tax preparer.  She enjoyed reading the Hammond Times, doing crossword puzzles, and watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy.  Linda never missed an episode of General Hospital.  She was an avid bowler and used to belong to bowling leagues.  Linda was very witty and did not sugarcoat anything.  She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be deeply missed.

Linda is survived her 3 children, Suzanne (Bret) Scott of Hobart, Joey (Susan) Largent of Hebron, and James (Karen) Largent of Dyer; longtime companion of 25 years, Tom Mendoza; 9 grandchildren, Traceey, Joey, Rayna, Brandon, Ryan, Shawn, Amanda, Tiffany, and Carly; 5 brothers, Larry (Joyce) Shearer of TX, Bob (Donna) Shearer of UT, Fred Shearer of OR, Mark (Judy) Shearer of Portage, Randy Shearer of PA; other loving family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Mary Shearer.
