Linda S. Sherer, age 65 a longtime Hobart resident passed away Thursday, March 10, 2016. She was born on December 8, 1950 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Richard and Norma Jean Zink. She worked for many years at Hobart Presbyterian Church as the Office Administrator. She enjoyed serving the community through her dedication to her church. She also enjoyed the Great Banquet.
She is survived by one son, Brian (Christy) Sherer of Winfield, IN; one daughter, Mandy (Kevin Persley) Charo of Chesterton, IN; former son-in-law, Jesus Charo, one brother, Steven (Lori) Zink of Hoffman Estates, IL; one sister, Robin (Bob Golembeski) Zink of Maricopa, AZ; seven grandchildren, Robert, Taylor, Ciara, Darian, Aaliyah, Grace, and Ian, and many other adopted grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon D. Sherer in 2003.
Funeral services are Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Hobart Presbyterian Church, 60 North Washington Street, Hobart with Rev. Jeffrey Carter officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Hammond. Visitation is Monday, March 14, 2016 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 West old Ridge Road, Hobart.
