Linda Yates, age 65, a resident of Portage passed away on Friday, July 1, 2011. She was born on April 26, 1946 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of the late Lars and Bernice Sola. On August 2, 1975 Linda Sola married the love of her life Gary Yates in Griffith, Indiana. Linda was very proud of her Norwegian Heritage. She loved going shopping, gardening, going to the beach, spending time with her grandchildren and traveling to the different Army bases to visit her daughter She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother.

Linda is survived by her loving family; husband of 36 years, Gary Yates, Portage, daughter, Kathy (Jason) Adams, Louisiana, 3 grandchildren; Jacob Adams, Kayla Wilson and Everett Mitchell, sister Marla Rauhut, Illinois and other loving family members and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, son, Kirk John Mitchell and brother Leroy Sola.
A visitation for Linda will be held from 12:00 am to 1:00 pm on Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at Rees Funeral Home – Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Avenue, Portage, with a funeral service at 1:00 pm on Wednesday. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery in Valparaiso. Memorials in Linda's memory may be made to the Yates family.
