Lisa Marie Balcerak, age 47, of Portage, Indiana went to be with the Lord on June 8, 2026, after a courageous battle with Linitis Plastica Cancer. Lisa was born June 2, 1979, in Valparaiso, Indiana, to Thomas and Jan Balcerak. She graduated from Wheeler High School in 1997 and earned an Associate Degree in Business from a Community College in Minneapolis, MN. Throughout her short life, she was employed by Burger King, Applebee’s, UGN, Delta Airlines, Meijer, Whitcomb Trucking, and Lineage.
She was a loving and adventurous soul, not wanting to stay in one place very long, but finally chose to make Portage her home. She loved her cats Mamba and Tucker, always spoiling them with new treats and toys: they have kept watch over her during her illness. Prior to their adoption, she had a cat named Buster, who she would carry around the house, after he developed incurable kidney disease.
She is survived by her loving mother, Jan Noll and her stepfather, Michael Marion; her loving father, Thomas and her loving stepmother, Denise Balcerak of LaPorte, Indiana, who are heartbroken; a sister, Nicole Balcerak, of New Carlisle, Indiana; her brothers, Thomas of Valparaiso, Indiana, and Brian Balcerak of LaPorte, Indiana. She is also survived by several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She was preceded in death her stepfather, Raymond Noll, her grandparents, William and Pat Balcerak, Laverne and Alfred Burnell, Thomas and Marilyn Marion, her uncle, William Balcerak, her aunt Linda and uncle Edwin Stalhanske, her uncles, Eddie and Carl Johnson, and her cousin, Timmy Munchenburg.
A Celebration of Lisa’s Life will begin with a memorial visitation from 4-6 pm Friday, June 26, 2026, at Rees Funeral Home 600 W. Old Ridge Road and continue with a Memorial Service at 6 pm at the funeral home.
Memorial gifts may be made to the Hobart Humane Society in lieu of flowers.
