LLOYD SAMPLAWSKI, SR.  age 91, of Portage since 1945, passed away Saturday, March 22, 2014 at home.  Lloyd was born in Boyd, WI on September 1, 1922 to the late Julius and Pearl Samplawski.  He was very proud of his service as an MP in the US Army during WWII in the European Theatre.  Lloyd was a member of the American Legion Post #260 and VFW #7760 both in Portage.  Lloyd was a retiree of the Iron Workers Local #395.  He was a member of Nativity of Our Savior Church and the Knights of Columbus, St. Clement Council #3283.

Lloyd is survived by his 3 sons, Richard (Connie) Samplawski of Portage, Lloyd, Jr. (Ruth) Samplawski of Valparaiso, and Gene (Nancy) Samplawski of Portage; 6 grandchildren, Sheila (Tim) Henk, Deborah Parker, Barbara (Kevin) Palansky, Lloyd, III (Elizabeth) Samplawski, Amy (Chuck) Taylor, and Lisa Samplawski; 2 great grandchildren, Kyra and Lauren Palansky; 1 brother, Terrance Samplawski of FL; 2 sisters, Vivian Hinsch of Portage and Carole VanderKamp of Elgin, IL.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence; 2 children, Sandra and James Samplawski; 2 brothers, Kenneth and Gerald Samplawski; 1 sister, Virginia Samplawski.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Lloyd will be Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Nativity of Our Savior, 2949 Willowcreek Rd., Portage, with Rev. Andrew J. Corona officiating.
