Lonnie M Guthrie, age 74, of Hobart and formerly of Surprise, Arizona passed away Wednesday April 17, 2019 at the William Riley Memorial Residence in Munster.  Lonnie was born July 12, 1944 in Mayfield, Kentucky to the late Hancel and Maybelle (Courtney) Guthrie.  Lonnie retired as a Crane Operator from Inland Steel/Arcelor-Mittal.  After retirement he worked as a Security Guard for several years.  He was a 32nd degree mason and member of Peoria Lodge #31, F&AM and the Scottish Rite.  Lonnie also belonged to the "Liar's Club" and enjoyed flying radio controlled model airplanes.  Lonnie assisted in building the Hope Baptist Church in Arizona

Lonnie is survived by his wife of twenty-six years, Vicki Harwood Guthrie of Hobart; his two children; John (Rikki) Guthrie of Hobart and Megan (Dustin) Abbott of Hobart; his two grandchildren, Zachary Guthrie and Amanda "Mandy" Guthrie; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Jerry Guthrie.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday April 20, 2019 at 5:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home 600 W. Old Ridge Road Hobart, Indiana 46342 with Chaplain Sharon Lund officiating.  Visitation will be Saturday from 4:00 pm until the time of the services at 5:00 pm at the Funeral Home.  Burial will be 10:00 am Monday April 22, 2019 in the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Illinois.
