LORAN C. BUTLER, age 85, of Hobart, passed away Friday, January 3, 2014. Loran was born on January 18, 1928 in Buena Vista, TN. He was a longtime area resident and retired from LTV Steel after 30 years of service as a millwright. Loran then went to work for 17 years at Pinkerton Security. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and a former member of the Glen Park Lodge #732 and was a 32nd Degree Scottish Right. Loran will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

Loran is survived by his wife of 65 years, Joyce (nee Massey); 3 children, Larry Butler of Haslet, TX, Jean (Bruce) Orr of Hobart, and Jerry (Amanda) Butler of Hobart; 5 grandchildren, Dennis (Christie), Phillip, Christina (Ernie), Ashley and Emily; 2 great grandchildren, Bethany and Cody; brother, Billy (Sue) Butler; 3 sisters, Arabia Drinkard, Edwina Britten, and Ruthel Bryant; other loving family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Medy Butler; brother, Olan D. and sister, Maxine.

A funeral service for Loran will be Thursday, January 9, 2014 at 12 Noon at Rees Funeral Home, Brady Chapel, 3781 Central Ave., Lake Station, with Rev. Jeff Spencer officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 until the time of service at Noon at the funeral home. Cremation will follow the service.
