Loretta Lou Crofton

Loretta Lou Crofton, age 74, a longtime resident of Lake Station passed away on Thursday, October 21, 2010. She was born on October 24, 1935 in Pagosa Springs, Colorado the daughter of Louis and Julia Schavey. She was married to R.C. Joseph Crofton on August 13, 1953 in Gary. Loretta was a member of the United Pentecostal Church of Portage and had been active in the Ladies Auxillary Society. She loved to play scrabble and bunko, but her greatest joy was being with her family. Loretta was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and a friend to all.

Loretta is survived by her loving family; Lonnie (Diane) Crofton, Hobart, Rowena (Bill) Owens, Portage, Michael Crofton, Portage, Deborah (Randy) Holland, LaPorte, Robert Crofton, LaPorte, Terry (Polly) Crofton, Portage, and Lisa (Jack) Barnes, Portage, 16 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, brother Richard (Monique) Schavey, Lake Station, sisters Margie Quick, Portage, Nancy (Al) York, Knox, Sandy Haywood, Portage, Linda (Andy) Sunderland, Lake Station, and Robin Guilland, Portage, and other loving family and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband R.C. Crofton, and grandson Josh Yates.

A visitation for Loretta Crofton will be held from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, October 25, 2010 at Rees Funeral Home – Hobart Chapel, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at Rees Funeral Home with Mr. Patrick Thomson, officiating. Burial will be at Chapel Lawn Cemetery in Schererville.
