Lorraine "Steve" R. Trumbo, age 94, of Hobart, passed away at home on February 15, 2020.  She was born in Monon, Indiana on February 4, 1926 to the late John and Florence (nee Bonnett) Mitchell.  She was a Merrillville High School graduate, Class of 1942. She graduated from St. Mary Mercy Hospital, School of Nursing.  She worked as a Registered Nurse at Porter Memorial, Bethlehem Steel, and Union Tank.  Steve was a member of New Life Community Church in Hobart.  She loved family vacations at the cottage, fishing, and reading.

Steve is survived by daughters, Diane Hawkins, Sandra (Roger) Scott, Linda (Jim) Myers; son, Lloyd (Pamela) Trumbo; grandchildren, Jennifer (Josh) Strausburg, Katrina (Robert) Lucas, Lloyd (Lauren) Trumbo, Heather (Thomas) Hawkins, Chris (Susan) Hawkins, Jonathan Hawkins, Nicole (Ryan) Howe, Tyler Shepherd; great grandchildren, Madison, Kendall, Layla, Gracelyn, Brayden, Mackenna , Grayson, Garrett , Morgan, Xander, Joshua, Blake, Harrison, Mathilda, Nolan and Hayden ; and sister, Carol Halfman.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, Earl L. Trumbo; brother, John Mitchell, sisters, Betty Boxwell, Lois Harris; and her parents.

A memorial visitation for Steve will be held Saturday, February 22, 2020 from 11-12pm at New Life Community Church, 1 N. Pennsylvania St. Hobart, IN 46342, a memorial service will be held at 12 pm with Pastor Daniel Gute officiating.  Cremation has been entrusted to Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel.  A burial of Steve's cremains will take place at Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso at a later date.  For more information, please call 219-942-2109.  Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.reesfuneralhomes.com.
