Lou Ella "Lucy" Spain (nee Fultz), age 94, a longtime Hobart resident, passed away on Friday, August 29, 2025.  She was born on November 22, 1930, in Newbern, Tennessee, to the late George and Lala Fultz.  She was a member of the Hobart Church of Christ.  Lucy loved crafts, which she worked on with her husband.  She also loved the St. Louis Cardinals.  She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother.

She is survived by four children, Gary (Diane) Spain of Hobart, IN; Rita (Mike) Keith of Valparaiso, IN; Marty (Cheri) Spain of Hobart, IN; Terry (Cheryl) Spain of Hobart, IN; fourteen grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Austin Spain; two sons, Eddie Spain, Warren "Muggs" Spain; four sisters, Willie Dew, Carolyn Gean, Mary Plunk, and Ruby Peevyhouse; two brothers, Cecil and Albert Fultz; one grandson, Brian Rushing; and one son-in-law, Tom Rushing.

Funeral services are Thursday, September 4, 2025, at 10 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 W. Old Ridge Road, Hobart with Minister Trey Gilliana officiating.  Burial will follow at Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville.  Visitation is on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel.  (219) 942-2109 or online at www.Reesfuneralhomes.com.
