Louis John David Perunko, Jr., age 79, of Hobart passed away Thursday September 28, 2017. Louis was born March 30, 1938 in Gary, Indiana to the late Louis and Anna Perunko, Sr. Louis retired from the Gary Police Department with forty years of service. He was a member of St. Bridget Catholic Church. Louis enjoyed family vacations, photography, playing Craps at the Casino, decorating his house for Christmas and the company of his friends and family.

He is survived by his loving wife Lois; three daughters, Linda Day of Hobart, LeeAnne (Stan Lesczynske) Perunko of Hobart and Laurie (Owen) Held, Jr. of Portage; six grandchildren, Daniel Day, Ashley Day, Jonathan Held, William Held, Brandy Lesczynske and Britney Lesczynske; one great grandson, Andrew Day; one sister, Dorothy Bronowski of Merrillville and many nieces and nephews.

Louis was preceded in death by his parents and his son-in-law Donald Day.

A Mass of Christian Burial will begin Monday October 2, 2017 with 9:30 am prayers at Rees Funeral Home 600 W. Old Ridge Road, Hobart, Indiana and then process to St. Bridget Catholic Church 568 E. 2nd Street at 10:00 am. Rev. Benjamin Ross will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Portage. Visitation will be Sunday October 1, 2017 from 2-8 pm with a 2 pm prayer service at the Funeral Home.
