LUPE LUNA (nee Azcona), age 65, of Lake Station, passed away Sunday, January 22, 2012 at VNA Hospice in Valparaiso while surrounded by her loving family. Lupe was born on June 23, 1946 in Gary, Indiana. Lupe loved her family. She enjoyed gardening, cooking out, shopping, and especially watching her grandkids play sports. She never failed to miss any special occasion for any one of her loved ones. Lupe was a remarkable woman who was always there whenever needed.

She is survived by her son, Carlos (Delores) Luna; daughter, Linda (David) Guzman; mother, Romana Azcona; grandchildren, DJ (Lupe) Guzman, Daniel Guzman, Christina Guzman, Rachel Luna and Carlos Luna; 1 great grandson, Lukas Guzman; bonus grandchildren, Nate Flores, Jose & Andrew Fonseca, and Jordan Merlo; 11 loving brothers and sisters; caring sisters-in-law and brother-in-law; many other loving family and friends.

She was recently preceded in death by her husband , Carlos; father, Fidel Azcona.

A funeral service for Lupe will be Thursday, January 26, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave., Portage. Burial will follow at McCool Cemetery in Portage. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 from 3:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, (219) 762-3013.
