Major James P. Madison, US Army Retired, age 96, of Hobart passed away Saturday July 15, 2017 at St Mary Medical Center in Hobart. James was born November 29, 1920 in South Bend, Indiana to the late Patrick James and Helen (Etnire) Madison. He retired as a Major from the US Army and also from the Indiana Employment Security Division. James was a member of Assumption BVM Catholic Church. He will be greatly missed by those that his life touched.
James is survived by his wife, Jean Ann Madison of Valparaiso; one son, Patrick J. (Jane) Madison of Macon, GA; step daughter Crystal Kulavick of Chesterton; three grandchildren, Faith Madison, James Michael (Megan) Madison and Rickie King; one great granddaughter, Catherine Madison; and many other dear friends and family members.
James was preceded in death by his by his parents; first wife, Dorothy Madison; two sons, Michael C. Madison and James L. Madison; his daughter, Connie Sue King; his sister, Mary Ann Nash; and his grandson, Christopher Madison.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated beginning with 9:30 am prayers at Rees Funeral Home 600 W. Old Ridge Road Hobart, IN and processing to Assumption BVM Catholic Church at 10:00 am on Wednesday July 19, 2017. Rev Lourdu Pasala will officiate. Cremation will follow with burial of ashes at the Rock Island Nation Cemetery in Rock Island, IL at a later date. Visitation will be from 5:00 to7:00 pm Tuesday at Rees Funeral Home with a 5:00 pm Prayer Service.
