Obituary

MANUEL BARRAGAN, age 57, of Portage, passed away Saturday, May 18, 2013. He was born in Chicago, IL on April 28, 1956. Manuel was formerly employed as a court liaison for the Lake County Jail and had served as a volunteer fireman. Manuel enjoyed coaching his children when they played softball and pop warner football. He also enjoyed Monday night bowling and was a diehard fan of the Chicago White Sox & Chicago Bears. Manuel will be dearly missed and never forgotten.
He is survived by his wife, Tammy; 4 children, Lindsay (Jim) Cockrell, Derek Barragan, Ashley (fiance, Chad), Michael (Keri) Suarez; grandchild, Anya, who was the center of Papa's heart; parents, Frank and Judy Barragan; 7 brothers, Frank (Pat) Barragan, Ray (Kari) Ruvalcaba, Peter (Colleen) Ruvalcaba, David Barragan, Philip Barragan, Robert Ruvalcaba, Mark (Tammy) Barragan; 4 sisters, Hope (Marty) Stauffer, Queenie (Calvin) Collette, Ruthie (Pat) Adank, and Debbie (Ruben) Flores; many nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Barragan and brother, Petey Barragan.
A funeral service for Manuel will be Friday, May 24, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave., Portage, with Pastor Bob Burton officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Thursday, May 23, 2013 from 2:00-9:00 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, (219) 762-3013 or online at www.reesfuneralhomes.com
