Marcella "Ruth" Meeks, age 94, of Kingston, Georgia, formerly of Hobart, passed away Monday, October 23, 2017.  She was born in Lawrence County, Illinois to the late William and Bertha (nee Howell) Stoltz. She was a longtime member of 1 ^st Baptist Church in New Chicago where she was known as the "cookie lady".  She enjoyed quilting and baking and will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.

Ruth is survived by children, Roger (Sandy) Meeks, Clarence (Gwen) Meeks, Carolyn (John) Kroledge, Dale (Denise) Meeks, Danny (Fran) Meeks, Denny Meeks, Naomi (Ronald) Freeman, Linda Breckman, Delores (Brian) Loney; 27 grandchildren; 65 great grandchildren; 19 great-great grandchildren; and sister, Mary Ferguson.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Clarence H. Meeks; sons, Wayne and Chuck Meeks; daughter, Donna; six grandchildren; son in law, Darrell Breckman; daughter in law, Patty Meeks; and her parents.

A funeral service for Ruth will be held Friday, October 27, 2017 at 10:00 am at Rees Funeral Home, 600 W. Old Ridge Rd. Hobart, IN 46342 with Pastor Don Good officiating.  She will be laid to rest at Chapel Lawn Cemetery in Schererville.  Visitation will take place Thursday, October 26, 2017 from 2-8 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel.  For more information, please call 219-942-2109.
