Margaret H. Beal

Age 97 passed away Thursday, May 30, 2024, in Upshur, Texas. She was born on March 19, 1927, in Hammond, Indiana to the late Verus and Louise (nee Gillis) Gerhardt. On September 16, 1944, Margaret married the love of her life, Russell C. Beal Sr. in Gary, Indiana, and they spent 71 loving years together until his passing in 2015. Margaret was a past member of the Hope Lutheran Church in Portage, she loved the Lord and was a wonderful homemaker, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend.

Margaret is survived by her son, Russell C.  "Skip" (Brenda) Beal Jr.; grandchildren, David Sean (Julie) Beal, Suzanne (Leslie) Whitney, and Rusty (Angie) Beal; six great grandchildren numerous nieces and nephews and many other loving family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Russell C. Beal Sr.; daughter, Linda Beal; father, Verus Gerhardt, mother, Louise Gerhardt; and sister, Norma "Ricky" Odom.

A funeral service for Margaret will be held Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at 1:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave. Portage, Indiana 46368. The burial will follow at McCool Cemetery in Portage, Indiana.
