Margaret Ellen Waters (Boyd), age 85 of Portage passed away Monday, January 27, 2014. She was born on July 16, 1928 to the late Doyle and Fern Elder. She was a longtime Portage resident and a former member of Grace Baptist Church. She was the Co-owner of Portage Neon Sign Company. Margaret enjoyed shopping and was a Cubs fan.
She is survived by 5 children, Margene Ried of Portage, IN; William (Bonnie) Waters of Monticello, IN; Richard (Ky) Waters of Valparaiso, IN; Ronald (Robin) Waters of Portage, IN; Wanda Gensimore of Valparaiso, IN; 2 brothers, Chester (Sandy) Elder of Syracuse, IN; Dennis (Winnie) Elder of Phoenix, AZ; 16 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Eugene Waters and Byron Boyd, 2 brothers, Joe and George Elder, 2 sisters, Lois Drane and Ruth Elder, and 2 grandchildren, Rachelle Sorba and Scott Ried.
Funeral services are Saturday, February 1, 2014 at 1 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave., Portage with Rev. Rodney Rudd officiating. Entombment will follow at Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso. Visitation is Friday, January 31, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, Portage.
