Margaret E. Edwards (nee Boatright), age 95 of Portage passed away Tuesday, November 26, 2024. She was born on September 28, 1929, in Lynnville, Tennessee to the late Algie and Hattie Mae Boatright. On September 29, 1950, she married Stanley Edwards in Gary, Indiana. Margaret worked as a bookkeeper at various auto dealerships. She was a member of Kappa Sigma Tau Sorority and New Hope Baptist Church in Hobart. She loved to cook and entertain. She enjoyed going to craft shows with her sister and she traveled all over the US with her husband.

She is survived by her daughter, Terry (Doug) Orgon; grandchildren, Sarah (Jacob) Rogers, David (Karen) Orgon; great grandchildren, Michael, Hannah, Rachael and Lynsey; and special niece, Linda (Bruce) Fletcher.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Algie and Hattie Mae Boatright; her beloved husband, Stanley Edwards; and her sister, Katherine Bjelich.

A funeral service for Margaret will take place Sunday, December 1, 2024, at 4:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave., Portage. Visitation will be held from 2:00 pm until the time of service at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at Calumet Park Cemetery. For more information, please call (219) 762-3013.
