Margaret Rose "Maggie" Smallman, age 59, of Portage, passed away Monday, September 11, 2017. She was born on April 8, 1958 in Gary, Indiana to Benjamin and Julia Smallman. A lifelong resident of Northwest Indiana, she will always be remembered as a dedicated mother, sister, daughter and friend to those who knew her. Maggie was a voracious reader. She will be sorely missed.

She is survived by her daughter, Amy Herbert; son, Raymond Kollasch; her beloved granddaughter, Addison Schouten; mother, Julia Smallman; brothers, William, Robert and Benjamin Smallman; sister, Jeanette Hadley.

Maggie was preceded in death by her father, Benjamin Smallman.

A memorial service for Maggie will take place Friday, September 15, 2017 at 12:00 pm at Real Life Community Church, 3134 Swanson Road, Portage with Pastor Scott Marshall officiating.
