Margaret Alice Stetson, age 90, a resident of Hammond passed away peacefully on May 4, 2011. She was born on January 8, 1921 in Hammond, Indiana the daughter of Martha Lena Nehring, adopted and raised by David and Eloise Akin, and was known as Dorothy. She attended Hammond Tech. Margaret worked for many years as a custodian for the Hammond Public Schools. Margaret was a member of Bethel Bible Church in Hammond and she loved to sew, garden, and was an incredible letter writer. Margaret was a wonderful mother and grandmother who dearly loved her family.
Margaret is survived by her loving family; daughters Juanita Sue Stahl, Hobart, and Linda (Frank) Stroney, Owensville, Missouri, sons David (Juanita) DeLoera, Hammond, Daniel (Marilee) Stetson, Burnsville, Minnesota, and Benjamin (Tammy) Stetson, Virden, Illinois, 26 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren, daugher-in-law Rosalee Loera, and other loving family and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Benjamin Stetson, and son Joseph Loera.
