Margarita Ramirez, age 80, of Hobart, passed away on April 18, 2026. She was born on January 21, 1946, in Morelia, Michoacán, Mexico, to the late Petronilo Ramirez and Cleotilde Serrato.
In 1962, Margarita married the love of her life, Jose Medina, and together they built a beautiful legacy centered on love, family, and devotion. She had a passion for singing and cooking, and she created a warm, nurturing home where her family always felt welcome. Margarita cherished time spent with her loved ones, as family was the heart of everything she did.
She found great joy and peace in nature, often visiting local nurseries to select flowers that she would lovingly plant and care for at home. Margarita was known for her ever-present smile and kind, welcoming spirit that touched all who knew her.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Jose Medina; her daughter, Alejandra Wachewicz; her grandchildren, Alejandra P. Wachewicz and Eric Wachewicz; her great-grandson, Magnus Cordez; her brothers, Carlos Ramirez and Balthazar Ramirez; her sister, Balbina Ramirez; as well as many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Petronilo Ramirez and Cleotilde Serrato, along with several brothers and sisters.
Cremation was entrusted to Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel. A private burial of cremains will take place at All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines, Illinois. For additional information, please call (219) 942-2109. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.reesfuneralhomes.com.

En 1962, Margarita contrajo matrimonio con el amor de su vida, José Medina, y juntos formaron un hermoso legado basado en el amor, la familia y la dedicación. Tenía una gran pasión por cantar y cocinar, y creó un hogar cálido y acogedor donde su familia siempre se sintió bienvenida. Margarita atesoraba el tiempo que pasaba con sus seres queridos, ya que la familia era el centro de su vida.
