Age 84, passed away on Sunday, February 26,2012, at Golden Living Center in Portage, surrounded by her family. Margarita was born in Puerto Rico, on March 16,1927, the daughter of Juan and Genoveva (nee Marquez) Rodriguez. She had been a Northwest Indiana resident since 1952 and was a member of Nativity of Our Savior Catholic Church. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She is survived by husband; Gonzalo B. Salazar of Portage, 2 sons; Gonzalo Bonilla of Alabama, Fred (Magdalia) Salazar of Portage, 3 daughters, Evelyn Salazar of Michigan City, Mildred Bonilla of Georgia, and Maria Salazar of Hobart, 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters; Oneida Rodriguez and Genoveva Rodriguez both of New York, and many other loving family members and friends.
She is preceded in death by her son Adrian Bonilla, parents; Juan and Genoveva Rodriguez and brother Rafael Marquez.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, March 1, 2012, 10:00am at Nativity of Our Savior Catholic Church, 2949 Willowcreek Road, Portage with Rev. Andrew J. Corona celebrating the Mass. There will be visitation at church Thursday morning from 9.00 a.m. until the Mass begins at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Portage. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 29,2012 from 2:00-8:00pm at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Avenue, Portage, Indiana.
