Age 89, a 16yr. portage resident, formerly of the Philippines, passed away Friday, October 21, 2011 at Porter Hospital in Portage. She enjoyed gardening, puzzles and spending time with her family. Margarita will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her loving family; son, Romeo (Cynthia) Tan of Los Angeles, daughter, Nila (Jose "Anthony") Joffre of Portage, 3 grandchildren; Abby, Jeffrey (Jasmine) and Chris (Eman), 2 great – grand children Jared and Khalil, 1 brother Casiano of the Philippines, 3 sisters; Teodora, Gerarda and Benilda all of the Philippines.
Her husband, Paterno Tan parents, Eugenio (Feliciana) Pornillosa and 2 brothers; Moises and Guillermo precede her in death.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held Tuesday, October 25,2011 at 10:00 am directly at Saint Francis Xavier Church with Father Eduardo Malagon officiating. Visitation will be held Monday, October 24 from 2:00-8:00 p.m. with a 7:00 pm Rosary at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Avenue, Portage, Indiana.
