Maria Rufina Betancourt De Garcia

Maria Rufina Betancourt De Garcia, age 82, of Merrillville and formerly of Durango, Mexico passed away Thursday April 12, 2018 at her home with her family at her side.  Maria was born June 4, 1935 in Durango, Mexico to the late Juan and Gerarda (Salazar) Betancourt.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  Maria is survived by three sons, Juan Garcia Betancourt, Guillermo (Tracey) Garcia Betancourt and Emetrio (Leslie) Garcia Betancourt; six daughters, Florinda Garcia, Martha (Ernesto Sosa) Garcia, Isabel (Jerry) Valazquez, Guillermina Garcia, Silvia (Luciano Gonzalez) Garcia and Blanca (Ramon Martinez) Garcia; one sister Maria Luisa Betancourt Salazar; many loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, other family members and dear friends.

Maria was preceded in death by her loving husband, Emeterio Garcia; her parents; two brothers and one sister.

Funeral services will be conducted 6:00 pm Saturday April 21, 2018 at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel 600 W. Old Ridge Road with Rev. Roque Meraz officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Saturday April 21, 2018 at the Funeral Home.  Maria's cremated remains will be returned to Mexico for burial.
